Here, I am going to discuss Why 6/4 bands have been the most popular in the satellite?
A 6/4-GHz small-capacity satellite communications system (SC-31 system) is described that minimizes interference with terrestrial radio-relay networks operating in the 6-GHz band. An outline is given of the system and the channel control technique.
Here,
Uplink frequency = 6 GHz
Downlink frequency = 4 GHz
So, 6/4 = Uplink frequency/ Downlink frequency
- 6/4 GHz band systems are used in many countries for the purpose of terrestrial communication.
- The problem of mutual interference is also reduced if we are using a 6/4 GHz band.
- In this band, there is no absorption by the rain.
- It has the fewest propagation problems. ...
- There is no change of polarization when the waves pass through the ionosphere.
- RF Components for these bands were being used for terrestrial relay links also and hence they are easily available.
